Gorgeous vintage Guatemalan or Mexican embroidered huipil blouse. Hand woven, SUPER cropped cotton boho top with a boxy fit. Unstitched down the sides, so it pulls on like a poncho. Can be easily stitched up the sides, if desired. Lined. Classic.
*** MEASUREMENTS *** Allow room for a comfortable fit. Fabric does not stretch. Pulls on over the head.
42″ bust (unstructured).
41″ waist (unstructured).
14″ long, from shoulder to hem. Very short. Could be lengthened by adding a contrasting fabric to the hem. Very common to do this.
17″ head opening. (Very small! It’s already been opened a little at the side. Some people open the neckline at the center seam in the back.)
Size: Unmarked. Probably best for a Small considering the length. Depends on how you wish to wear it, though.
Maker: Unmarked. Probably from Mexico or Guatemala.
Materials: 100% handwoven & embroidered Cotton.
Condition: Open down the sides, but could easily be stitched if you prefer. The neck opening has been clipped & hand stitched to make it a bit bigger, but it is still too small to fit over an adult’s head. Will need to be opened down the back a bit. Sometimes people add a zipper, or open the whole back & just put a button at the top. This is an old blouse, so there are some small stains throughout & other normal signs of wear, in keeping with age.
